TGCDT: October 2021 ~ Wonderful Dotted Grid Card Making Technique
Hello & welcome to Mitosu Crafts UK. Thanks for stopping by for The Gentlemen Crafters Design Team October inspiration hop. Today we are sharing projects created with the wonderful Dotted Grid card making technique using various Stampin’ Up! products.
The Gentlemen Crafters Design Team (#TGCDT) are a group of male crafters. Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world that love to share our creativity every month. Make sure you check out the rest of the Design Team’s creative projects from the links at the end of this post.
Dotted Grid Card Making Technique
We recently shared this technique using die cuts from Christmas Trees set on our YouTube live HERE Although it can be fiddly and requires some measuring, the effect is striking. Plus it showcases smaller dies that can otherwise be forgotten. You check out the tutorial replay below of another card created using the dotted grid card making technique.
Dotted Grid Stamping Technique
You can also use the Dotted Grid for repeat stamping your backgrounds! If you have the Stamparatus you can also achieve this look with the Hinge Step Technique. But it can be limiting depending on the size of the image you are stamping. With a dotted grid as your guide, you can have a uniformed stamped background and also have the option to add small variations.
I wanted to make the process a lot easier and came up with a hack by creating my own dotted grid template using Window Sheets, Take Your Pick Tool and Grid Paper! You can make several templates with different distances between the dots to fit the image or die cut you want to use. The following 3 projects uses the Dotted Grid Template…
Special Pine Cone Tree Card
For the card below, the pine cones from Perfectly Plaid were stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink. They were slightly turned on each stamping so they’re not all pointing the same way. I added an extended punched Pine Tree for the topper, Baker’s Twine and white embossed sentiment to finish.
Staggered Tree with Peaceful Deer Bundle
The staggered dots are great for medium stamp images or die cuts. It’s also good if you struggle to do random stamping. Now this card looks a lot more like the Hinge Step Technique as I stamped the trees on each dot the same way in Soft Succulent ink. I added hints of Painted Christmas DSP and coloured the deer in Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.
Rainbow Stamping with Days To Remember
Doesn’t this card just make you happy? If you look closely, each flowers were stamped in different directions. The colours I used for the rainbow stamping are: Flirty Flamingo, Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Pacific Point and Rich Razzleberry.
I added texture with Simply Elegant Trim and Glittered Organdy Ribbon. Then white embossed the sentiment from Days To Remember set and added the vellum mat underneath to help the black card stand out even more.
How To Make The Dotted Grid Template Hack
We hope you enjoyed these projects. Let us know which one is your favourite? Thanks again for stopping by. Until next time, BYEEEEE!
