Christmas Card with a Difference
Hello, Barry here & welcome to this months Casually Crafting Blog Hop and my take on Black, White with a Pop of colour Christmas Card with a difference.

Black, White with a pop Christmas Card
When I’m asked to think of Christmas colours my mind automatically goes to the traditional Reds, Greens, Golds etc. So this months theme of Black, White with a pop of colour was interesting and definitely got me thinking. So I’ve created this Christmas Card with a Difference. What do you think?
To make this Christmas Card with a Difference, I’ve used the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set and Poinsettia Dies as the main focus on the card with a strip of Real Red card stock running through the middle. The middle gap was created using the dies from the Freezin’ Fun Bundle and raised using Stampin Dimensionals.
I just love it when dies and stamps are interchangeable with other projects.
Below you’ll find few picture of my Christmas Card with a difference for you to use as inspiration or if you’re stuck for ideas copy if you wish.
I wanted to add black lines and didn’t have any designer series paper that was suitable. So out came the water painters, memento re inker and a painting I went.
Before creating the final piece I tried it using the Frost White Shimmer Paint direct into black card, as well as mixed with Memento re Inker. Obviously, Black & white mixed makes grey, but it was too gray for the project. So I washed the brush and just used memento neat.
Happy Accident
What I didn’t expect was that some of the shimmer from the paint was still within the bristles of the water painter and it transferred a tiny amount of shimmer to the black ink. I had to double check I hadn’t used shimmery White Card stock by mistake, as this was what it reminded me of. Happy accident indeed.

What an elegant Christmas card. Love the balance of colour and those hand painted stripes are such a great idea. TFS

What a creative way of using that die! Must try that myself. I love the pop of red showing through, and the black and white poinsettia is beautiful!
