Measurements
- Card Base—Soft Succulent CS
- 11” x 4-1/4” scored at 5-1/2” (29.7 cm x 10.5 cm scored at 14.8 cm)
- Mat 1—Lights Aglow DSP—3-7/8” x 5-1/2” (11.5 cm x 14.8 cm)
- Mat 2—Evening Evergreen CS—2-3/8” x 5-1/2” (6 cm x 14.8 cm)
- Mat 3—Distressed Gold Specialty Paper—2-1/8” x 5-1/2” (5.4 cm x 14.8 cm)
- Mat 4—Fluid Watercolor Paper—2 x 5-1/2” (5.1 cm x 14.8 cm)
- Inside Mat—Basic White CS—5-1/4” x 4” (14.3 cm x 10.0 cm)
- Inside Mat Edging—Lights Aglow DSP—1/2” x 5-1/4” (2) (1.3 cm x 14.3 cm)

12 Weeks of Christmas Ideas #41 Tutorial – Create a Layered Christmas Card with Leaves of Holly
Inking
- Using the wide Water Painter and the piece of Fluid Watercolor Paper, wet the paper across the front, top to bottom.
- Apply Mint Macaron ink to the bottom of the panel using side-to-side swiping motion. Work upwards, making the color darker toward the bottom and lighter toward the middle. Apply Soft Succulent ink to the top in the same manner, darker color at the top working toward a lighter color in the middle. Let dry or use a heat gun to speed the process. While the paper is still slightly damp, emboss using the pine embossing folder. Let dry completely while working on other parts of the card.
Die Cutting / Stamping
- Cut two (2) large, background holly leaves from the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper. Cut two (2) large, foreground leaves (the one with the cutout center) from the Evening Evergreen Cardstock.
- Cut the smallest tag (with the circular hole) from Basic White Cardstock. Using Evening Evergreen ink, stamp the tag with the “Merry Christmas” sentiment from the Cottage Wreath Stamp Set.
- Using Evening Evergreen ink, stamp the inside mat on the Basic White Cardstock with the “From our Home to Yours” sentiment, centered at the top of the mat.
- Stamp envelope front with two holly leaves, using first and second generation stamping.
Construction
- Adhere the edges to the inside mat layer; adhere inside mat to the card base.
- Using liquid glue or Stampin’ Seal+, layer Mat 1 to the Soft Succulent card base.
- Using liquid glue or Stampin’ Seal+, attach the watercolor paper layer (4) to the gold layer (3).
- Attach gold mat to the Evening Evergreen mat (2).
- Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, center the strip on the card front.
- Attach the two holly leaves, where the stems intersect, with liquid glue or glue dots to the front of the card, leaving the rest of the leaf loose.
- Attach the tag over the stems of the leaves with the tag hole to the left.
- Tie a double bow with the Soft Succulent ribbon and the gold trim. Attach it to the hole in the tag with a mini glue dot.
- Adhere three gold Festive Pearls to the front layer of the card.
