TGCDT: February 2022 ~ Black & White Grassy Grove Card Ideas
Hello & welcome to Mitosu Crafts UK. Thanks for stopping by for The Gentlemen Crafters Design Team February inspiration hop. It’s Jay here, sharing black & white Grassy Grove card ideas using simple cardmaking techniques.
The Gentlemen Crafters Design Team (#TGCDT) are a group of male crafters. Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world that love to share our creative side with you every 2nd Friday of each month. Make sure you check out the rest of the Design Team’s creative projects from the links at the end of this post.
#simplestamping Grassy Grove Card
This first card is very simple, with the trees stamped in Staz On ink then fussy cut (or cut using coordinating die from Grove Dies). To add interest on the card base, I used the Paper Trimmer to add 3 vertical score lines in the middle. Then layered Basic Black, Vellum and Basic White panels before finishing with 2 Pearl Basic Jewels.
Grassy Grove Card with Repeat Stamping Background
A slight step up with repeat stamping for this 2nd black & white card idea. I cut the layers first then marked the middle point on the Basic White card so I can start stamping. I used the ‘ground’ edge as a guide to stamp the image again upside down. Which is why the 3 horizontal lines in the centre are slightly darker than the outer 2 as these were stamped only stamped once.
I added White Frayed Ribbon which luckily fits inside the 2 ‘ground’ lines before adhering both layers on the card front. The lone tree was achieved by masking the stamp and inked with Staz On. I then stamped the sentiment before using the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch to cut the topper. To finish, I added Linen Thread bow and Pearl Basic Jewels.
Grassy Grove Card with Ink Blended Scene
This 3rd card uses repeat stamping again but stepped up even more with masking and ink blending. I stamped the long ground image from the set on 3 edges to make it look like a cave. The deer was stamped next in Staz On ink, the same as the ‘cave’. Once dried, I ink blended Memento ink with Blending Brushes along the 3 edges.
I created a mask for the mountains using copy paper. TIP: you can use Water Painters to draw your mountains to easily tear the copy paper. I started adding the background from the bottom then worked my way up, changing the orientation of the mask to not look too uniformed.
I simply layered the scene flat on Basic Black card then both layers on the card front using Stampin Dimensionals. The sentiment from Beauty Of Friendship set was stamped then added as a folded banner to finish.
I hope you enjoyed these black & white cards using the Grassy Grove stamp set. Which one is your favourite?
Thanks again for stopping by. Until next time, BYEEEEE!
