Quiet Meadow Thinking Of You Cards
Welcome to Mitosu Crafts UK, thanks for stopping by. It’s Jay Soriano here, for this month’s Creating Kindness blog hop. The theme is Plants and I have created a couple of cards with the new Quiet Meadow Bundle from 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue.
Creating Kindness Design Team
Our special guest designer this month is Vy Tran of Crafting Daily Dose. If you’re following the hop already, you may have arrived here from Melinda Stearns’ It’s A Card Knock Life. Do hop around to check out Vy’s amazing project and the rest of the Creating Kindness Design Team from the links at the end of this post.
Quiet Meadow Bundle
One of my favourites in the new catalogue as it allows for colouring, building layers with stamping and dies. As well as creating backgrounds using different card making techniques.
Meadow plants with flowers, background patterns, and greetings—you’ll find all these things in the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set. Put them all together for perfect projects! Choose one greeting, flower, and pattern or bring several of them together for a collage effect. You’re sure to convey a positive message.
Re-create the look of a glorious meadow with the images in the Meadow Dies. It’s wildflowers galore with an abundance of beautiful blossoms. Mix and match the different pieces to get the right look for your creation.
Quiet Meadow Thinking of You Card 1
I used Blending Brushes to colour the layer in two of the new 2021-2023 In Color; Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent and Granny Apple Green inks. Adding texture by stamping the texts in Smoky Slate and splatters in Memento ink.
The detailed image can easily be left uncoloured normally. But on dark background, I wanted it to stand out even more. So out came the Chalk Marker to colour in the image. Which I also used to add random dots around the background.
You might think that the topper dimension is a little odd. Well to be honest I was a little heavy handed on my stamping and created a halo effect! So instead of restarting, I adapted and just cut off the bottom. I quite like the end result as it takes me away from my usual layer sizes.
Quiet Meadow Thinking of You Card 2
For this card, I used Old Olive cardbase and Mossy Meadow layer. Inspired with my adapted topper dimension from the previous card, I placed the topper towards the right hand side for a different look.
The Mossy Meadow layer was inked with Evening Evergreen using Blending Brushes. And I stamped on it randomly with the splatter design. I only needed this lush dark green In Color to blend it out to create my background as the card layer is already coloured.
I used 2 more of the new 2021-2023 In Colors in the form of the lovely Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon. And Fresh Freesia ink was used to stamp the sentiment on Soft Sea Foam card.
If you look closely, there are random dots on the black meadow die cuts. I added these with the Chalk Marker but changed my mind after so I coloured it over with Basic Black Stampin’ Blends. This created a subtler effect which you can only see when it catches the light.
I hope you enjoyed these cards and my take on the Plants theme this month. Be sure to continue along the hop for more inspirations from the Creating Kindness Design Team. Don’t forget to come back and order your Stampin’ Up! products online from Mitosu Crafts UK.
