In The Pines Card with Simple Sponging Technique

The Spot design team creates Stampin Up inspirations for a weekly card making challenge every Tuesday. The theme this week is CASE the Designer, Sara Levin. So check out The Artful Inker blog and find a project that inspire you to craft. Then enter your creation for the challenge this week.
Halloween Card Inspiration from Sara Levin
The project I chose from Sara is the Ghoulish Goodies Winter Woods Card. You can find more info on this Halloween card HERE
I love the sponged green background on this card which I CASEd. There are more elements on my card but the layout is loosely based on the original also.
In The Pines Card with Sponging
I stamped the row of trees from In The Pines stamp set in Memento on Mint Macaron card. Then sponged Granny Apple Green and Garden Green along the foreground with Sponge Daubers. To ground the trees, I used Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker and added small diagonal ‘shadows’.
I added a black layer to frame the topper, mimicking Sara’s card with the black border. This makes the topper stand out more which was further enhanced by having a large white frame.
To add more texture, I die cut the row of trees in Whisper White and embossed these with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder. I also added Just Jade Ribbon and white threads from Playful Pets Trim underneath the sentiment. Finally adding the Iridescent Pearls to complete my CASE of Sara’s card.
