Gatefold Butterfly Pop Up using Stampin’ Up! Products
Hi, it’s Jay here with a new video tutorial on how to create a Gatefold Butterfly Pop Up card!
I used the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set, Butterfly Beauty Dies and the mechanism from Cuckoo Clock Dies for this fun and interactive card.
One Sheet Wonder Technique
The Beauty Abounds stamp set was ideal for a one sheet wonder technique to create my own DSP. This was achieved by stamping different designs randomly in Soft Sea Foam, Smoky Slate and Pool Party inks on Whisper White cardstock. I then trimmed to size for the opening panels of the gatefold card.

Inside The Card
As you saw in the video, I left the card pretty bare inside, ready to be decorated even more for when we needed it. Well it turned out that we did! I took my own advice and added the sentiment, Silver Glimmer die cuts and Wink of Stella. So this is how it turned out…

- Metric Measurements
- Pool Party Cardbase: 20cm x 14cm
- Score at 5cm & 15cm, Mark at 7cm & 13cm top and bottom
- Pencil mark from top on the inside spines at 4cm
- Pool Party Inside: 6cm x 14cm
- Pencil mark down from top at 5cm, then mark along at 2.6cm & 3.4cm
- Mechanisms: 9cm x 5cm
- Score at 1cm, 2cm, 3cm, 4cm & 5cm, then cut in half at 2.5cm to give you 2 pieces of 9cm x 2.5cm
- Pool Party Cardbase: 20cm x 14cm
- Imperial Mesurements
- Pool Party Cardbase: 8″ x 5-1/2″
- Score at 2″ & 6″, Mark at 2-3/4″ & 5-1/4″ top and bottom
- Pencil mark from top on the inside spines at 1-5/8″
- Pool Party Inside: 2-1/2 x 5-1/2″
- Pencil mark down from top at 2″, then mark along at 1-1/16″ & 1-3/8″
- Mechanisms: 3-1/2 x 2″
- Score at 3/8″, 3/4″, 1-1/8″, 1-1/2″, 1-7/8″ & 2-1/4″, then cut in half at 1″ to give you 2 pieces of 3-1/2″ x 1″
- Pool Party Cardbase: 8″ x 5-1/2″
