Global Design Project Challenge
The GDP design team creates Stampin’ Up! inspirations for a weekly card making challenge every Monday. Use the colours: Shy Shamrock, Pretty Peacock & Lemon Lolly on your project and share on social media to play along.
This colour combination was a challenge as I wouldn’t have picked them together! So I used my favourite out of the 3 colours; Pretty Peacock as the main focus then added hints of Shy Shamrock and Lemon Lolly for different elements.
We recently got the new online exclusive release Cake Celebrations Bundle and I wanted to use it for this challenge. Stampin’ Up! also has the #CreativeChallengeSU this month which is to mash up online exclusives with other craft supplies in the Mini or Annual Catalogues. So I incorporated Season of Elegance DSP for a quick background, die cut with one of the Everyday details dies.
Celebrate Card Idea with Tiered Cake Celebrations
I tried to focus more on the stamps and repeatedly stamp FOUR cake tiers on Basic White card. Unfortunately, my stamping was uneven so I scrapped that idea! It’s a lot easier to die cut the card and then stamp the design.
TIP: Use 2nd generation ink / stamp off technique (see Pretty Peacock flowers) and double stamping (see middle of the cakes) to get different tones of the same colour
The cake stand and cake bunting were die cut on Gold Glimmer paper (which has retired). I used Crumb Cake for the cardbase as well as for the icing on the cake.
TIP: selectively ink up part of the design only using the edge of the ink pad then stamp on the die cut to get a wider gap between the icing.
The sentiment was then stamped in Pretty Peacock on Basic Beige card. Finishing with small dots of. Gold Metallic Enamel Effects Basics.
Cake Celebrations Bundle
