Christmas Star with Poinsettia Decor & Card for Stamping Sunday

Hi and welcome to Mitosu Crafts UK. It’s Jay Soriano here with this month’s Stamping Sunday design team blog hop. I have created a hanging decor Christmas star with poinsettia and a matching card.

The Stamping Sunday design team are a group of independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrators around the world. We share themed card ideas and papercraft inspirations every 2nd Sunday of the month. The theme is ‘Get Sketchy’ and Sara Levin provided us with the card sketch below for inspiration. I did create 2 cards using 2 sets of different products. But after looking at my hanging star decoration, the elements loosely follows the sketch….well I think anyways. So I decided to recreate it with different colours and also recorded a tutorial to share with you.

Stitched Stars with Poinsettia Card

For the matching card, I used Stitched Stars Dies to emboss the card layer, following the card sketch layout. I added mini die cut triangles on some of the star points (using the 2nd smallest star die from the set then cutting each point). The poinsettia topper is slightly altered with a bit of Sponge Daubers ink blending and Vellum die cut layer. Finished with a sentiment from Poinsettia Petals in Cherry Cobbler and Memento ink.

The colours for the die cut elements were inspired by the Colour Challenge from Global Design Project #GDP321
