Partial Stencil Technique Casually Crafting Blog Hop
Hello, Barry here & welcome to this months Partial Stencil Technique Casually Crafting Blog Hop. Today I’ll show you how I made these 2 projects using blending brushes with stencils to showcase this technique.
So who are the Casually Crafters? We are a group of Independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that enjoy sharing our take on casual crafting. We’ll be sharing what we love with you every 3rd Friday of each month. Check out the rest of the design teams projects by clicking on the photo links towards the end.
Partial Stencil Technique
The Partial Stencil Technique, technically isn’t a new technique, but its a new technique for me & maybe you. Wow, thats a lot of techniques, lol.
The idea came from searching Pinterest, as you do & I liked it so much I wanted to have a go. Plus it gave me the perfect opportunity to play with the lovely new Blending Brushes.
For the first card use the largest circle die from the Stitched Shapes to create an aperture. Then use this aperture to apply some colour with the Blending Brushes to lay down a base colour. After that place the Stencil over the top to apply another colour. Work the colour several times to increase the depth colour until you’re happy.
To finish the card stamp the sentiment from the You Are Amazing stamp set. Then mat & layered this onto some black card to help the sentiment pop.
Faux Torn Paper Technique
The second card shows the same technique but has been used differently to create a Faux Torn Paper Technique.
Just take some scrap paper, tear it and then use Blending Brushes and Stencils over the top the same as above.
Watch The Video
Below is the video showing you step by step how I created this card & the measurements for the card. Have fun.
Measurements
Card Base – 14.6cm x 21cm – score at 10.5cm
Black layer – 13.6cm x 9.5cm
Basic White – 10cm x 14.1cm, cut down to 9cm x 13.1cm after you’ve finished with your blending.
I hope you’ve liked our casually crafters blog hop. Hopefully you’ve been inspired to have a go at some of the projects yourself. We would love to see what you create so please use #mitosucrafts or tag us @mitosucrafts on your social media post.

Beautiful cards Barry! Love the soft colours. I haven’t tried this technique so I’ll have to give it a go. Thanks for sharing ❤️

Absolutely love these and now I’m ready to pull out my stencils (they’ve been lonely far too long)
