Poinsettia Petals Tone On Tone Smooshing
Welcome to Mitosu Crafts UK, thanks for stopping by. It’s Jay Soriano here, for this month’s Creating Kindness blog hop. The theme is ‘Colour’ of any tone or combination we love. So I have created a card using Tone On Tone Smooshing with Magenta Madness and Poinsettia Petals stamp set.
Creating Kindness Design Team
If you’re following the hop already, you may have arrived here from our special guest designer this month, Nicole Wilson. Her projects are always inspiring, we’re so thrilled to have Nicole join us. Do check out the rest of the Creating Kindness Design Team projects from the links at the end of this post.
Stampin’ Up! Colour Choices
Stampin’ Up! has 50 current colours from 4 different Colour Collections (Brights, Subtles, Regals and Neutrals) and the In Colors too. There’s also the Metallic Foils; Silver, Champagne, Copper, Brass, Gold and Red & Green. Not forgetting the basics; Black, Very Vanilla and White. So this theme can be a little daunting with all the colour choices available from Stampin’ Up!
The catalogues are a great source of inspirations for different colour combinations. With the project samples and suite colours, there’s plenty to get started with. I still opted for a simple tone on tone with one of my favourite In Color, Magenta Madness.
Poinsettia Petals Tone On Tone Smooshing
I did another card recently with Tone On Tone Smooshing and loved the effect it created on the background. Easy choice of colour and technique! Ink up an acrylic block using Classic Stampin’ Pads, sprits and smoosh. Wait to dry before stamping the leaves tone on tone and background is done.
I also did more smooshing before white embossing and die cutting the poinsettia. But as the petals are small, the effect of the smooshed ink wasn’t very noticeable. I ended up using the fine tip Water Painter to add tone on tone shadows.
To add more texture, I used In Color Ribbon, Vellum and Playful Pets Trim. The berries were stamped in Memento and highlighted with the Chalk Marker. The contrast of the Iridescent Pearls in the centre against the white embossing finishes the poinsettia nicely don’t you think?
I hope you enjoyed this card and my take on the ‘Color’ theme this month. Be sure to continue along the hop for more inspirations from the Creating Kindness Design Team. Don’t forget to come back and order your Stampin’ Up! products online from Mitosu Crafts UK.
Thanks again for stopping by. Until next time, BYEEEEE!

Even a non fan of Magenta Madness (me) loves this. The tone on tone ink smooshing is just so effective. Another technique to add to my ‘must try’ list! x
