Global Design Project Challenge

The GDP design team creates Stampin’ Up! inspirations for a weekly card making challenge every Monday. Use the theme below for inspiration this week and share your papercraft project.

We only have a handful of ocean themed craft supplies but I wanted to use one of the new sentiment from the 2025-2026 Annual Catalogue, Layered Thoughts. I love the mix of bold and script fonts in this stamp set. It reminded me of positive affirmation postcards with simple backgrounds. With this in mind, I had to be a little creative to create an ocean themed project for this week’s challenge.

Simple Ink Blending Ocean Card Idea

I used Blending Brushes to ink blend Night of Navy, Blueberry Bushel, Azure Afternoon and Peach Pie on a Basic White Layer. Starting from the darkest blue on top, making my way down to the lightest colour. I then added Peach Pie, starting from the opposite edge. To make sure the inks didn’t mix much and create a green tint, I lighten on the pressure where the blue and peach meets.

I added hints of texture on the ‘sand’ with a splatter stamp from Elements of Text. Once the layer fully coloured, I used a Heat Tool to make sure the surface is dry. This was followed by dabbing the Embossing Buddy before stamping the sentiment with Versamark ink. Then sprinkling the white embossing powder, set with the Heat Tool.

To finish, I simply adhered the layer on a cardbase then added three Pool Party Glossy Dots!
