Retiring Detailed Dragonfly Dreams

It’s Jay here and I am back with the Paper Craft Crew using Detailed Dragonfly & Dragonfly Dreams.

It is earlier than mentioned on my last Paper Craft Crew post last week (HERE) as I mis read the brief. So you can imagine my surprise when I found out I needed to create a card for today! I had less than 24 hours but luckily I had some spare die cuts from another project I was working on (which will be posted tomorrow).

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch Challenge PCC335

This week we have a lovely card sketch challenge for your inspiration. The leaves on the sketch is great for spring cards but I opted to change these and used the cluster of dragonflies from the Detailed Dragonfly dies.

I started with the Smoky Slate die cut dragonfly, I coloured this with Lemon Lime Twist, Pacific Point and Blueberry Bushel. I also added a bit of bling thanks to Clear Wink of Stella as well as highlights with the Chalk Marker.

The rich colours on the dragonfly inspired the rest of the card which turned more masculine than most of my cards. Maybe it was also inspired from our recent Masculine Themed card class

The Night of Navy panel was embossed with the Hexagons DTIEF before layering on top of the Shaded Spruce card strip. I then snipped the cluster of dragonflies in half before adding the circle stitched topper with Dimensionals.

To follow the card sketch, I tucked the Mini Sequin under the topper and added the sentiment banner. This sentiment belongs to a longer Dragonfly Dreams sentiment which I snipped to fit my purpose.

To finish the card, I got the Frost White Shimmer Paint out. I used the tip of the Take Your Pick Tool cap to apply the paint, for a more random circle effect. I took these photos right after I finished and you can still see that the shimmer paint dots are still wet! Phew, I am so glad to have managed to create something for today.

Cardbase: 11″ x 4 1/8″, folded in half at 5 1/2″

Shaded Spruce: 5 1/2″ x 1 3/4″

Night of Navy: 5 1/2″ x 1 1/2″

Inks: Lemon Lime Twist, Pacific Point, Blueberry Bushel
