Stampin Up! Artfully Layered Sketch Inspiration for Casually Crafting
Welcome to Mitosu Crafts UK, thanks for stopping by! It’s Jay here with a card for the Casually Crafting blog hop sketch inspiration this month. I used the Artfully Layered stamp set featuring simple cardmaking techniques you can try to add texture to your project.
The Casually Crafting Design Team are a group of independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that enjoy sharing projects ideal for casual crafters. It’s a STEP UP from simple stamping, quick and easy projects for beginners. We hop every 3rd Saturday of the month with different themed inspirations and the sketch layout for this month is pictured below.
Artfully Layered Sketch Inspiration
I liked the 4 vertical elements and main topper from the sketch. But instead of creating 4 separate pieces, I used repeat stamping instead. I also changed the topper shape and created a layered rectangular element to place the sentiment on.
Simple Cardmaking Techniques To Add Texture
- Tear the edges of card layers and toppers.
- I started with larger pieces of cards than the intended final size to easily tear the layers. You can add even more texture by distressing the edges after, using a Bone Folder or Paper Snips.
- Add small random splatters.
- There are different Stampin’ Up! mediums you can use to achieve this. For this card though, I applied Memento ink on an Acrylic Block. Picked it up with a Water Painter then flicked the brush against the lid.
- Use different ribbons and trims.
- There’s over 30 Stampin’ Up! ribbons to choose from! I used a small piece of (Petal Pink) Cotton Ribbon Combo Pack for the banner and Linen Thread for the bow.
- Add embellishments.
- Stampin’ Up! offers coordinating embellishments to product suites as well as generic ones. So there’s always something that will be ideal for your project from the variety of designs. I used Faux Sea Glass Shapes (Old Olive) which are organic shaped frosted little beauties.
What techniques do you love using to add texture to your cardmaking?
Thanks again for stopping by. Until next time, BYEEEEE!

Awesome card, Jay! The torn edges and splatters are amazing elements for casual crafters to use. ??
